PwC promotions in the region underline its commitment to diversity in senior roles

Nine senior promotions have been made by global accountancy group PwC across its West and Wales offices as it continues to invest in its people and the region.

Taking up partner roles are Lynne Baber, who heads up the governance, risk & control business, and Sue Morling, who leads the financial services assurance business.

Their promotions mean that PwC’s West & Wales partnership is now more than 40% female in keeping with the firm's commitment to encouraging more diversity in senior roles. The firm has a target of 30% female partner promotions a year.

Lynne and Sue have both been with PwC for 13 years. Lynne, pictured right, has worked with a variety of regional and national clients across industry including government (MoD and transport), health, housing, and those in the private sector.

Her primary focus now is on government and defence, and she is also PwC’s UK people leader for internal audit.

Sue, pictured below right, is a specialist in retail financial services and works with firms in the insurance and banking sectors from large global businesses to smaller not-for profit entities. She has also worked extensively with PwC’s central London specialist regulatory teams supporting businesses through successful regulatory authorisations and compliance.

In the deals area of the business, Marc Davies and Grit Young have been promoted to director, while in assurance, Claire Turner, Pete Venables, Lauren Moss, Jon Evans and Craig Sullivan also now take on director roles.

In addition, PwC has made 18 promotions to senior manager, 22 to manager and made 143 promotions within the associate bandings across the region.

West & Wales regional leader Katharine Finn, pictured below left, said: “This is an exciting time for us, as we continue to strengthen our practice and invest in our people.

“As a firm, we continue to focus on embedding diversity in our business, with a target of 30% female partner admits each year which reflects the director talent pool from which they are drawn.

“Here in the West & Wales over 40% of the partnership are female, which is a real testament to the success we have had locally in supporting the careers of our diverse talent pool.”

* Katharine Finn last month become The Prince’s Ambassador in the South West having been personally appointed by HRH The Prince of Wales.

Each year an inspirational business figure is appointed in each of the UK’s regions to represent the responsible business movement and lead other businesses in the region to take action to address key issues. Ambassadors are chosen for their personal impact and for demonstrating leadership within their own business.

Katharine is an active member of Business in the Community’s (BITC) South West regional Advisory Board – a group of senior representatives from some of the region’s leading businesses committed to taking practical action to tackle key local issues. She has used her knowledge as chair of PwC’s women’s network to advise BITC on diversity issues. She  is also an adviser to the Bristol Chamber of Commerce & Initiative board.
