1pm, the Bath-based lender to the small and medium-sized business sector, is poised for further expansion after completing its move to larger premises

The fast-growing firm has taken just over 4,000 sq ft of refurbished office space in St James House, The Square, on Lower Bristol Road and will now go ahead with plans to take on 20 more staff over the next year.

1pm said the “much-needed” additional space would help to “facilitate the delivery of the board’s strategic plan to substantially expand the business over the next three to four years by increasing capacity both in terms of staff numbers, upgraded office and IT systems and the addition of other business development resources”.

Chief executive Maria Lewis, pictured, said: “Everyone is delighted with the move. The increased office space and open-plan layout will undoubtedly contribute towards even greater operational efficiencies and enhance our business culture. We are also planning to recruit as 1pm continues to benefit from strong demand for its asset finance and business loans services from across the UK’s SME market.”

Last month 1pm said it was on target for another record financial performance as demand for its loans continues to grow.

In a trading update released to the London Stock Exchange, it said it wrote new business worth more than £6.8m in the six months to November 30 – a 36% increase on the same period last year.
