One of the area’s best-known accountants has joined the fast-growing Bath office of regional accountancy firm Bishop Fleming as a partner.

Christine Tuckerman’s arrival takes the number of partners in the Lower Bristol Road base to four with 41 staff – making it the city’s largest accountants’ office.

Christine, who was educated Bath High School, joins from the Bath office of national accountancy firm Baker Tilly. As well as partner responsible for the office she also led the private client team covering the Bath and Bristol offices.

Christine worked at the Inland Revenue (now HM Revenue & Customs) before spending more than 21 years at Bath accountants Richardson Reed (later Richardson Groves), which was acquired by Baker Tilly in 2011.

Bishop Fleming, which has seven offices across the South West, opened its Bath base in 2012 having bought parts of rival firm Target out of administration.

Bishop Fleming managing partner Matthew Lee said: “Since opening our Bath office, it has become one of our fastest-growing and most successful bases.

"The addition of Christine to our Bath partnership team will reinforce the strength of that office. While other professional firms with a presence in both Bristol and Bath are closing one or other of those offices, Bishop Fleming is adamant that we shall sustain our commitment to both cities.”

Bath office partner in charge Andrew Sandiford added: “Christine has spent most of her career serving clients in the Bath area and has become a local star of the profession.

“Her arrival sustains our Bath office growth, which has seen a record rise in recruits, client-wins, and staff success in professional exams.”

Bishop Fleming has been named as the UK’s fastest-growing Top 40 accountancy firm for two years running.
