Continued growth at Bath-based digital supply chain management firm Actual Experience has led to it appointing non-executive director Robin Young to the newly created role of chief operating officer.

Robin, who joined Actual Experience’s board a year ago, has extensive CIO, COO, technology and operations experience, previously holding positions at blue-chip public companies including Mitchells & Butlers, GlaxoSmithKline, Proctor & Gamble and Ford.

He has taken up the new position immediately. Actual Experience, which improves digital supply chains for major firms through leading-edge analytics, said his new role was also needed to build a global operation to support its international customer base.

He joins Dave Page and Steve Bennetts on the firm’s executive board, with Stephen Davidson remaining as non-executive chairman and Sir Bryan Carsberg and Dr Mark Reilly as non-executive directors. The company said it intended to appoint an additional non-executive director in due course.

Robin Young, pictured, said: “Since I joined the Actual Experience board as a non-executive director last year I have been increasingly excited by the exceptional business opportunity in front of the company and so was delighted when Dave Page raised the prospect of my joining as chief operating officer. I look forward to working with the talented team at Actual Experience and helping the company achieve its growth potential.”

CEO Dave Page added: “Robin has a wealth of senior operational experience in large organisations and a proven track record of outstanding achievements. I’m delighted that he is taking up the role as COO at this important time in the company’s evolution.”

Actual Experience, based at The Tramshed, emerged from research conducted at Queen Mary’s School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and has since become the market leader in advanced analytics for managing digital business quality.

The firm says its pioneering products can bring about a step change in efficiency and an end to glitches that dog digital platforms such as buffering and poor internet connections.
