Facilities management business Almeda has appointed Brady George as managing director, taking over from his father Gary, who set up the business in 2007.

Brady, aged 29, joined the Keynsham-based firm six years ago and worked in every department of the business before taking on his previous role as operations director.

The family-owned business, which turns over nearly £6m and employs more than 50 staff, works with organisations to manage their buildings and ensure they are run as efficiently as possible. Clients include the At-Bristol science centre, Arnolfini art gallery in Bristol, Bristol & Bath Science Park and SS Great Britain.

The business was originally formed in 1981 as an electrical contracting company, but was re-launched by Gary George in 2007 as a total facilities management provider.

Brady said he had big ambitions for the future.

“Almeda has experienced a special time over the last couple of years, where we have made some huge strides.

“I am hungry to keep driving the business forward and working hard to deliver the very best in service and innovation for the built environment.

“Without Gary Almeda wouldn’t exist; it wouldn’t have purpose and integrity. That is his legacy and I am excited about keeping it going. It’s now time to take Almeda to the next level and become the number one choice in the South West for facilities management support.”

Gary will now step back from the day-to-day management of the business but continue to work in an advisory role.

He said: “Working in a family business can be difficult at times, but ultimately it is a rewarding experience and Brady has played his part in driving Almeda forward.

“He isn’t assuming this role because he is my son, but because he has the leadership qualities, curiosity and passion that will ensure Almeda continues to grow and stay a force for good.”

Bradley recently introduced a scheme at the firm’s office where staff can pick and eat their own fruit and vegetables from allotments built in the grounds of the business.

He has plans to increase the allotments to grow enough food to feed every member of the Almeda team for breakfast, dinner and lunch.
