Melksham-based Avon Protection has received a further award under its existing 10-year sole source requirements contract with the US Department of Defense (DoD) for the supply of its M50 JSGPM masks valued at approximately $19m and for delivery in its 2012 financial year.

The contract is in addition to the 100,000 masks per annum Avon currently supplies to the DoD.

Avon has already delivered over 600,000 masks to the DoD under this contract. The M50 mask will in time replace all existing masks within the four services of the US armed forces.

Commenting on the news, Avon’s chief executive, Peter Slabbert, said: “This award demonstrates the accelerating demand for our world leading product and gives us excellent revenue visibility against this contract for 2012.’’
