Broadband provider Truespeed has appointed Alex Huscroft as head of customer as it expands its full fibre service into its home city of Bath, Wells and other underserved areas of the South West.

Alex is an experienced, multi-award winning customer service leader with a 20-year track record of delivering exceptional customer service.

He joins Truespeed from MyOptique, the Swindon-based group behind Sunglasses Shop and Glasses Direct, where he spent two years as head of customer service.

Prior to that he spent over two years as head of customer care at sustainable energy start-up Bristol Energy, where he was tasked with planning, setting up and running the customer service function from scratch.

Within a year, Bristol Energy won a top 10 spot in the prestigious Which? Awards for its customer service.

In a similar vein, while in his previous role as customer care manager at Chippenham-based renewable energy firm Good Energy, Alex, supported by his team, achieved the remarkable feat of winning outright the Which? award for customer service in his first year in post.

Alex began his career with a 10-year stint at Virgin Mobile and latterly parent company Virgin Media, where he started as a customer service agent and worked his way up to become team manager and then knowledge manager.

Truespeed was launched in 2014 by three investors fed up with poor broadband in their homes and three years later secured a £75m investment from Aviva Investors.

It has since been on a mission to bring what it calls left-behind towns, cities and rural communities across the South West the benefits of affordable, full fibre broadband direct to their doors.

It has built new infrastructure that enables it to deliver 10 gigabit-capable full fibre broadband directly into houses and business premises, providing a high-performance, highly reliable and future-proofed connection.

Truespeed CEO Evan Wienburg said: “Outstanding customer service is at the heart of what we do. It is never good enough to simply stand still.

“We are constantly looking for ways to refine and enhance our customer service and Alex brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this important area of the business at a time when our rollout is accelerating and customers are being connected at a rapid rate.

“Alex’s cabinet of sparkling customer service awards is a testament to his impressive track record and we are thrilled that he is on board.”

Alex added: “I am passionate about giving customers a gold standard level of service at every contact point.

“As soon as I spoke to Evan and the team at Truespeed I knew I had found the perfect role as the team demonstrated a passion for providing brilliant products and there is huge energy and desire to drive exceptional customer service.

My focus now is to deliver a best-in-class customer experience and I really look forward to this challenge.”
