Expert award-writing service launched by multi award winning public relations agency

A PR professional who has won numerous awards since starting his own agency nearly four years ago has launched a service to help businesses showcase their own successes by entering award schemes.

Ben Veal, pictured, set up Second Mountain Comms in Bath during the 2020 pandemic with the aim of helping good people do good.

Over the past three years, this approach has won Ben a raft of industry accolades, including the national CIPR Excellence Award for Independent PR Practitioner of the Year and the Creative Bath Award for Start-up of the Year as well as two CIPR Awards for his Good Journeys with Second Mountain podcast and YouTube show.

Now Ben wants to use the expertise he has developed in entering – and winning – these awards to help other businesses do the same.

He said: “Entering awards is a time-consuming, thorough process — and there’s a definite art to telling the story of a business in a compelling and distinctive way that resonates with judges and stands out in hotly-contested and highly sought-after categories.

“Winning a business award shows your customers that you’re doing things differently, and better, than your competition — and awards recognition can open many doors from a marketing, PR, new business, earned media and talent recruitment perspective.

“Whatever the size or sector of your company, awards help you to stand out from the crowd in a positive light.”

He said over the past three years, award wins had been an “absolute game-changer” for his business and had opened many doors.

“I’m really excited in 2024 to be sharing my understanding of what makes for an award-winning entry and to help a wide range of businesses to gain the recognition that they deserve this year and beyond,” he added.

Second Mountain’s awards entry service is fully scaleable in line with business size, budget and requirements.

It includes three packages starting from £595 plus vat which include:

  • Support with award category research and planning.
  • Internal information gathering,
  • Writing award entries.
  • Creating assets,
  • Social media amplification,
  • Publicising and promoting award wins via focused PR activity.

Now based at the Glove Factory Studios in Holt, near Trowbridge, Second Mountain Comms specialises in supporting charities, not-for-profits and purpose-driven business leaders.

Since its launch, it has supported more than 20 clients across the UK and internationally as far afield as the US and Australia in both a paid and pro-bono capacity.
