A Keynsham care home business has added a further 11 bedrooms to its operation after securing a finance package from Barclays.

St Philips Care Home has invested more than £700,000 to take its number of bedrooms to 32 – an increase of 50% – by joining its existing properties in Priory Road with a newly purchased neighbouring building.

It has also added an additional conservatory and landscape gardening with the ambition of creating a home-from-home atmosphere for residents.

The family-run business was established in 1987 by Pat Clarke, who has since been joined in the business by her daughter Marie Craig.

St Philips cares for 29 residents and employs 44 staff on a full and part-time basis – a number now set to increase as new residents move into the expanded home.

Marie Craig said: “St Philips Care Home has a very good reputation in the area, offering high-quality, tailored care and support. When the opportunity arose for us to expand, we jumped at the chance and approached Barclays to support us.

“We have excellent staff working here and we look forward to welcoming new residents to the home in the coming weeks.”

St Philips Care Home works closely with local councils and is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission.

Bristol- based relationship manager at Barclays, Richard Crew, said:  “I’m pleased to have been able to support St Philips Care Home with the purchase and redevelopment with funding.

“The addition of the new beds recognises a market requirement, plus the creation of a number of jobs in the Keynsham area. Barclays is committed to using our industry expertise within the healthcare sector to support experienced and professional operators such as this which is vital to a prosperous local economy.”
