Bath’s Kingswood School has staged a topping-out ceremony for its new teaching block, the first phase of a major redevelopment funded by Barclays.

Guest of honour at the event was CEO of Corporate Banking, Barclays, John Winter, along with Bath architects Mitchell Taylor and building contractors Beards.

The bank has provided a funding package to the independent co-educational day and boarding school to help it meet its development aspirations.

Headmaster Simon Morris said: “Barclays has been very supportive of our requirements and plays an integral part in our plans for future development.

“With the new financial structure in place, we are now able to focus on an exciting development programme for the school and on continuing to enhance the outstanding learning environment for which Kingswood is well known.”

Mr Winter added: “Barclays has a leading presence in the education sector supporting organisations up and down the country. The funding we have provided for Kingswood School is just one example of how we work with our clients to structure financial solutions to support their long-term plans.

“We are committed to working alongside our clients to help them prosper, and nowhere does this have such a positive social impact than in the education sector as they teach the next generation and help instil in them self-confidence and ambition.”
