The Bath-based advisors behind the sale of Mercedes-Benz commercial franchise partner Rygor to its management have spoken about their involvement in the deal.

Lawyers from Bath-headquartered RWK Goodman worked with Rygor’s shareholders while the Bath office of regional accountancy firm Bishop Fleming provided them with tax advice.

Corporate finance advice came from the Bristol office of international accountants Deloitte UK.

As reported last week by Bath Business News, Westbury-based Rygor, which includes Rygor Commercials and newly launched Rygor MAXUS, has been acquired by sales director John Keogh and head of truck sales Rish Channa in a management buyout.

The business has developed in recent years, investing in extensive renovations of its sites across the country as well as a dedicated truck centre at Heathrow, which, opened in 2020, and a custom-designed Mercedes-Benz Truck and Van centre in Reading, which is due to officially open next month.

RWK Goodman’s transaction team was led by corporate partner James Worrall and included Yasmine Qasim, Katharine Mortimer and Will Woods (corporate), Tim Gofton (employment) and Daniel Pinheiro (real estate).

James, pictured, said: “We are delighted to have advised the Rygor shareholders Tim Stacey, Paul Reed and Graham Drake on the transaction, working alongside the teams at Deloitte and Bishop Fleming.

“Having worked with Rygor for several years it’s great to see the business in safe hands and we look forward to seeing it continue to go from strength to strength under John and Rish’s leadership.”

Bath-based Bishop Fleming tax partner Paul Morris added: “It’s been great to work with Tim, Paul and Graham over the years as they’ve built the Rygor business, and we very much look forward to working with John and Rish going forward as it enters this exciting new phase.”

Funding for the transaction was provided via an eight-figure package from Shawbrook.
