Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams had a starring role at Bath’s Summer Masquerade Ball in aid of NSPCC.

Bristol-born Maisie, who plays Arya Stark in the hit TV series, drew the raffle ticket for the lucky winner of the top prize – a £5,000 diamond ring donated by one of the country’s leading bespoke jewellers Tom McEwan.

The draw – which took place at midnight – was the high point of the ball, which was attended by almost two hundred people.

Maisie, who went to Norton Hill School in Midsomer Norton before going to Bath Dance College to study Performing Arts, was VIP guest at the event.

Held at the Assembly Rooms, the ball was organised by Alice Ellis of AQ-Y supported by NSPCC ambassador Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst MBE, CJ from the City of Bath College and Caroline Morgan of the NSPCC. The main business supporters were Barclays Bank and RISE.

Guest speaker was NSPCC ambassador David Tait, who has also climbed Mount Everest five times in support of the charity. The ball raised thousands for Childline, which is in its 30th anniversary year.

Guests enjoyed a sparkling reception sponsored by RISE Management Consulting with drinks from Great Western Wine followed by dinner, cabaret, a caricaturist, music and casino.

BBC presenter Imogen Sellers acted as MC and the auctioneer was Homes Under The Hammer presenter Martin Roberts. The auction and raffle prizes were donated by local companies and the table decorations were created by students from Bath’s Royal High School.
