The search has started for a new chief executive to lead Bath Festivals as the arts organisation enters a period of major change, including launching a new multi-arts festival.

The successful individual must be able to lead it through that transformation, engaging wider audiences – locally, nationally and internationally – and redefining what great festivals can do, said Bath Festivals.

As reported last week by Bath Business News, the organisation, has launched the annual Bath Festival to supersede the Bath Literature Festival and the Bath International Music Festival with an increased number of world-class events in the city, reinforcing its position as a leading national arts organisation and pitching it for the first time against Edinburgh and Cheltenham.

Bath Festivals chair John Cullum said: “We’re looking for someone with sound experience of programming, marketing, collaboration, fundraising and finance in an arts or similar organisation.

“Important qualities include courage, energy and enthusiasm in leading change, delighting sponsors and supporters and being at the heart of what makes Bath one of the world’s great small cities.”

More than 50,000 people have attended Bath Festivals events so far this year. The new Bath Festival, which takes place next May, aims to build on the success of its existing festivals but widen the audience by attracting a more diverse range of artists and performers.

Bath Festivals is a charity whose main sources of funding are donations from individuals, patrons, corporate partners and grants from the Arts Council and Bath Tourism Plus as well as ticket sales.

The closing date for applications for the chief executive job is December 17. For more information click here.
