Octopus Films, the Bath video production company, has teamed up with the creators of much-loved TV bear Sooty to produce a special Christmas charity music video.

The film, the firm’s first music production, accompanies Sooty’s new single, a reworking of the Christmas classic The Most Magical Time Of The Year

All proceeds from sales of the track will go to Childline, the NSPCC’s counselling service for children.

The video, featuring Sooty and pals Sweep and Soo, is set in a snowy forest and festive funfair and comes ahead of the Sooty’s 75th birthday next year.

Octopus Films was founded 10 years ago as a full-service video production company working with clients ranging from BBC’s Countryfile Live, the British Council and Medical Detection Dogs.

It helps organisations, businesses and charities connect emotionally with their audience. Last month it partnered with the University of Bath for the second year running to make a hard-hitting documentary to coincide with the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Octopus Films owner Giles Edwards said producing a music video presented a unique set of challenges – but was great fun.

“We used lots of movement to create a cinematic feel and give the video a glossy edge. The team are honoured to be involved in a project which supports such a great cause,” he added.

Childline’s dedicated volunteer counsellors will provide an essential role this Christmas, helping children and young people who may have nowhere else to turn.

Sooty’s Christmas single is available for download at magicaltime.co.uk for £4 and to stream on music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music with all download and streaming proceeds donated to Childline.
