A regional organisation that helps businesses forge links with China is to host its first event for firms from Bath and Wiltshire.

The Bristol & West of England China Bureau was launched in 1998 and has since grown to be the region’s strongest twinning network to support businesses and education organisations while also promoting a shared understanding of Chinese culture.

While it has staged many events in Bristol for businesses interested in developing or strengthening links with China – ranging from advice sessions to informal networking – its first gathering for Bath and Wiltshire firms takes place on September 1.

Called the End of Summer Pow-wow and taking place in The Studio, Bath Spa University’s recently opened creative hub in Palace Yard Mews, it is also the first face-to-face networking event to be held by the bureau since Covid restrictions were lifted.

Bureau representative for Bath, Yang Ding, who runs Midsomer Norton-based New Silk Route Digital Marketing agency, said: “The theme for the evening will be creativity in tech, but it is a great opportunity for businesses in the area with a passion for technology or a link to China to meet with like-minded people.

“Bristol, Bath and Wiltshire businesses in the technology sector will particularly benefit from attending this event.”

The bureau is collaborating with a number of partners for the event, including members of the Bath Get Together, an informal professional networking group, and Tech West England Advocates.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance from Eventbrite. For more information, visit www.chinabureau.co.uk
