Bath in Fashion: Catwalk showcase for up-and-coming talent

Bath in Fashion’s designer catwalk will be the showcase for some of Britain’s top designers tomorrow as the festival’s first week draws to a close.

Staged at the Assembly Rooms and sponsored by Mallory, the event promises to be one of the highlights of Bath in Fashion.

Alongside the crème of Bath’s fashion boutiques, clothes by designers including Bora Aksu, Jean Pierre Braganza and Hermione de Paula will be paraded on the catwalk.

The Designer Fashion Show takes place between 3pm and 7.30pm and will be directed by London fashion producer John Walford and styled by Rebekah Roy, who has worked with many top models.

The London based Turkish designer Bora Aksu exploded onto the fashion scene in 2002 after being hailed ‘the star of the show’ by The Daily Telegraph upon graduating the renowned Central St Martin’s. Aksu has developed a very distinct signature; romantic but always with a darker twist, his demi-couture pieces are full of elegance, intrigue and seduction.

Jean Pierre Braganza’s futuristic prints, unexpected detailing and constructed tailoring that accentuate the form of the wearer have established the designer in womenswear. A Central St Martin’s graduate, he worked for Roland Mouret before setting up his own label in 2003.

Hermione de Paula launched her luxury ready to wear label in 2010 armed with a degree from Central St Martin’s and training at Christian Dior Couture and Alexander McQueen. Unconventional floral prints with a twist characterise her label, and a selection of her gorgeous prints are stocked in Liberty.

Bath boutiques starring on the catwalk will include South West Designers at Traffic People; Prey; Mallory; Lux; Liz Cox & Cox; John Anthony; Howl and Wolf; Grace & Mabel; Gieves & Hawkes; The Frock Exchange; Ette London; Channi B; Brad Abrahams; Blue; Bloomsbury; Austin Reed; Aria Lingerie.

Students from Bath Spa University will see their work on the catwalk and will also be dressing models for the show.

Special one-of-a-kind ‘It’ bags designed by celebrities such as milliner Stephen Jones, interior designer Nina Campbell, fashion writer Iain R Webb, supermodel Jade Parfitt, and Bath’s Olympian Amy Williams will be paraded at the end of the show. The bags, created by British Bag Makers, the fast-growing Radstock-based company, will be auctioned online to raise money for the RUH Cancer Care Appeal.
