Outstanding business supporters of the arts in the South West are to be recognised through a new scheme launched by Arts & Business (A&B), the organisation that brings together the cultural and corporate worlds.

The Business Cultural Champions programme – a sister initiative of A&B’s successful Cultural Champions scheme – will publicly acknowledge the tremendous value businesses bring to the arts, allowing them to flourish in difficult times. The programme will also encourage other businesses – of all sizes and from all sectors – to get involved.

The winning businesses will be showcased at a high-profile event at Bristol’s Colston Hall on November 30 when representatives of both the business and the arts organisation they have supported will receive certificates from a high-profile guest. The Business Cultural Champions programme is being support by Bath Business News’ sister website Bristol Business News as media partner.

To be eligible, businesses will have shown support to an arts organisation in one or more of the following ways:

• given a monetary contribution

• volunteered specific advice or skills (practical or strategic)

• given their time and general support on a regular basis or on a specific project or campaign

• currently (or have been) a trustee on the arts organisation's board or in a similar governance role

• given immediate support or support over an extended period of time

• will have made a vital difference to the organisation

To enter, arts organisations benefiting from corporate sponsorship or partnerships can submit a simple nomination form from http://artsandbusiness-culturalchampion.weebly.com/

A&B regional director James Taljaard said: “The arts in the South West could not survive without the passionate support of hundreds of people who generously give their time, expertise, and money to help the region’s cultural organisations flourish – especially those that work within the business sector.

“At Arts & Business, we feel it is essential that we continue to celebrate the work of these business professionals that play a vital role supporting the cultural sector and their community at large.”

Bath Business News will carry a series of articles on the businesses nominated under the Cultural Champions programme over the coming weeks.
