Bath’s top venues to be showcased at city’s first tourism industry awards

The cream of Bath’s tourist attractions, hotels and venues will be showcased this evening at the inaugural Bath Hospitality and Tourism Awards night (BEHTA).

The awards, to be handed out at a glittering ceremony in the Assembly Rooms, are being staged by Bath Tourism Plus (BTP). Many of the winners in the 21 categories stand a chance of going forward to the national VisitEngland Tourism Awards 2015.

Bath Tourism Plus chief executive Nick Brooks-Sykes said: “Apart from celebrating the best of the region’s tourism sector, these awards will provide a showcase for industry best-practice and will shine a spotlight on the regions top-quality tourism businesses.

“Businesses will inevitably profit from the extra media and consumer attention given to each of the winners.”

A full list of winners will appear exclusively on Bath Business News tomorrow.

The event is being managed by Bath-based FAB! Events Global and presenters from Breeze FM will act as hosts.

Entries were submitted on-line and category shortlists drawn up by a panel of judges drawn from the tourism and hospitality industries. Joint chairs of the panel were Mr Brooks-Sykes, and FAB! managing director Andrew Wright.

Mr Brooks-Sykes added: “Judging was extremely difficult since Bath and the surrounding area have so many high quality businesses. However it will make winning a BEHTA award extremely competitive but highly coveted.”

Funds will be raised at the event for young people’s charity On the Record.
