Tickets have gone on sale for this year’s Bath in Fashion as preparations continue for the high-profile May event.

Over the past four years Bath in Fashion has played a key role in putting the city at the centre of the UK fashion industry, attracting world-renown designers such as Manolo Blahnik and Amanda Wakeley to its week-long festival of talks, seminars, workshops and exhibitions as well as catwalk shows.

This year’s festival – between May 3 and 10 – will celebrate the extraordinary creative energy in the British fashion industry while also taking a nostalgic look at the iconic BIBA label to mark its 50th anniversary.

Managed and funded by the Bath Business Improvement District (BID) in conjunction with Bath Tourism Plus, the festival is a collaborative effort by hundreds of Bath businesses to highlight Bath’s fashion credentials.

This year it will explore the influence and interplay between past and present trends, celebrating the creativity of contemporary Bath while paying tribute to its illustrious heritage and the true spirit of invention that created a city that was inspired, radical and bold.

The festival will look at the origins of an idea – what influences and inspires people when they buy fashion and how and where do designers find their inspiration?

In an exceptionally rare interview, Meadham Kirchhoff will discuss their ideas with Bath girl and contributing editor to American Vogue, Sarah Mower.

Sarah, who is also the British Fashion Council ambassador for emerging talent, has known Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff since they graduated from Central Saint Martin’s and won the New Gen award, which she chairs.

The Anglo-French duo Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff are renowned for presenting beautiful, theatrical collections against intricately-staged settings, they have a unique approach and a devoted following.

Bath in Fashion 2014 also promises an exciting week-long programme that showcases Summer ’14 fashions on the catwalk, brings fashion celebrities and authors to share their style and stimulate debate, and stages hands-on workshops, style counsel, exhibitions and installations.

Bath in Fashion chair Sarah Mansfield said: “We have been working all year to put together another great line up bringing some of the world’s top fashion journalists, business leaders, designers and show producers to Bath for 2014 and 50 years on from changing the face of fashion with BIBA, Barbara Hulaniki shows her – still relevant – designs on the catwalk again.

BID chief executive Andrew Cooper said: “This event would not be possible without the generous financial and in kind support of our sponsors, the BID levy payers, property landlords, retailers large and small and businesses across the city.

“Engagement this year has built upon the successes and participation of previous years and demonstrates our ambition in creating events that provide city-wide benefit.”

Headline sponsor is The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, which has chosen to support the event to mark the completion of a multi-million pound renovation programme.

General manager Sharon Love said: “The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa has been synonymous with style and sophistication for decades and has played host to some of the world’s most celebrated stars of stage and screen.

“We couldn’t think of anything more apt than supporting Bath in Fashion during our re-launch year.  As an independent hotel we love the way Bath in Fashion celebrates independent fashion retailers in Bath.”

The hotel will stage a series of events throughout the week.
