The Belt-Up School of Motoring has appointed Mike Traylor to run its growing truck driver training business.

Mr Traylor, pictured, has more than 30 years’ experience as an HGV driver and ran his own haulage business in Timsbury before joining A&L Haulage, near Radstock, where he was previously based.

At Paulton-based Belt-Up he will be responsible for developing the HGV and trailer driver training school, which also includes the fleet driver coaching business Enterprise Solutions.

The company has just taken delivery of a 44-tonne articulated lorry for category C+E driver licence training. It also has a smaller 18-tonne rigid truck for category C licence training.

Founder of the Belt-Up School of Motoring Josef Harle, who is also a director of Enterprise Solutions, said: “Mike has great experience working in the haulage industry so I’m delighted to welcome him to our expanding team.

“There is a national shortage of HGV drivers as many older operatives retire early because of new professional competence training which has to be completed every five years.

“Although this has created a shortage of HGV drivers it opens up more opportunities for new drivers coming into the industry. Mike will help us ensure that the next generation of HGV drivers get the very highest quality training at an affordable price.”
