Bath-based law firm Withy King has made Children’s Hospice South West one of its chosen regional charities for this year – and has already donated nearly £4,000.

Children’s Hospice South West was the country’s second children’s hospice when founded in 1991 and now has three hospices supporting families across the South West, providing a wide range of invaluable services, from end-of-life care and bereavement support to respite breaks for both children and parents.

The Charlton Farm hospice received a boost of £3,939, a third of the full amount Withy King has raised since the beginning of the year through donation from the partners, raffles, dress-down days and a firm-wide quiz.

A total of £11,817 has been split evenly between three charities in the three key regions in which the firm operates.

Withy King solicitor Roman Kubiak said: “This is the first year that Withy King has involved all staff in decisions on charitable giving. With an overwhelming number of worthy causes, it makes sense to let the whole firm decide. We are delighted that Children’s Hospice South West emerged as the winning charity in the Bath and Bristol region.

“This is a cause that we all find very moving. As a law firm with large clinical negligence and personal injury practices, we know only too well how important it is for children with life-limiting illnesses to have the right kind of care. We are proud to know that our contribution will go some way to helping children enjoy the time they have and their families to cope with a sad and stressful time in their lives and we look forward to raising even more over the coming year.”

Withy King has pledged to hold further fundraising activities in the hope of adding more money to the charity’s pot by the end of the year.

Children’s Hospice South West corporate partnerships fundraiser Kate Fisher said: “We are so pleased to have the support from Withy King’s Bath office this year. Not being based in Bath, people often forget that we support families from this area but the support they receive is just as vital as for every life-limited child and family across the South West. Withy King staff are showing a fantastic commitment to the local community though their charity of the year scheme, and everyone at Children’s Hospice South West is so grateful for their support this year.”
