A commitment to professional development at BMT Group, the international design, engineering and risk management consultancy with a major presence in Bath, has again been underlined by its success in the South West Director of the Year Awards.

Three of the five finalists in the Director Development catergory of the awards, staged by the Institute of Directors (IoD) have worked at the group – as have a number of winners in previous years.

The award, one of six presented at the IoD regional annual dinner in Bristol last week, goes to the highest-scoring candidates from the South West region who have taken the IoD’s Certificate in Company Direction exam in the past year.

This year the joint winners were Alastair Shanks, head of operations at BMT Defence Services in Bath, and Dan Oakley, formerly business development director at BMT Reliability Consultants.

Nicola Adams, business development director at BMT Hi-Q Sigma in Bath, was shortlisted for the award and was joint runner up with William Owen of Metra Weather and Sarah Spivey of Modulift.

The five finalists for the award were to top five scorers from the South West. All passed with distinction and were separated by just one mark.
