Dazzling Christmas cards and wrapping paper created by young people and adults supported by social care charity Quarriers are to be sold at Bath’s Christmas market.

The unique cards and paper designs were part of the annual charity competition staged by Quarriers, which provides much-needed care and support for thousands of vulnerable children, young people, adults and families who face extremely challenging circumstances such as homelessness, learning and physical disabilities and epilepsy.

All proceeds from will go to help fund a scheme for children and young people supported by the charity’s local projects to have a seaside holiday – sometimes for the first time in their lives – at Littlesea Holiday Park near Weymouth.

Entrants in the Quarriers Design A Christmas Card competition were also invited to a recent awards afternoon tea at Lackham House to receive certificates and prizes. Winners included young people supported by Quarriers at its residential home in Melksham, disabled children from its Bath short break service and adults from Swindon’s Support Services.

The cards go on sale at the market in the Abbey Churchyard on November 26 from 10am to 7pm. A pack of eight costs £3.50 or three packs for £9. Wrapping paper costs 60p per sheet or four for £2.

Meanwhile, carol singers will be raising their voices in favourite Christmas melodies in aid of Quarriers at the Christmas market on November 30 at 6pm, December 2 at 3pm, December 7 at 6pm and December 8 at 5pm.

Ruth McKibbin of Quarriers said: “We are delighted with the fantastic festive designs the people supported by Quarriers South West services have created. I’m sure Christmas shoppers at the market will snap up the cards and wrapping paper.

“We are also really looking forward to the carol singing at the markets – which will be a big hit with shoppers.”

Quarriers is dedicated to helping children, families and adults to overcome adversity, and has been providing care and practical support for vulnerable children and adults locally since 2004.
