Bath French restaurant Casanis has reopened under the name Henry’s having been acquired by chef Henry Scott.

The Saville Row bistro was previously owned by chef patron Laurent Couvreur and his wife Jill, who ran it for more than 10 years.

The restaurant is Henry Scott’s first venture. He has 10 years’ experience in the restaurant and hotel trade as a chef and has worked all over the world from Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant Hibiscus to venues in Australia.

His latest role was as a sous chef at The Abbey Hotel in Bath, whose owner Ian Taylor is acting as Henry’s mentor in the new venture.

Henry’s serves a combination of the French cuisine previously offered at Casanis as well as Henry Scott’s own dishes from his classically trained background.

The restaurant sale was brokered by property agent Christie & Co’s Bristol office. Director Nicholas Calfe said: “The business had been confidentially marketed with previous interest from an overseas buyer. However, we are pleased the new owner is local and we wish Henry all the very best of luck in his new venture.”
