Bath-based Stone King has appointed Lucy Smith as an associate solicitor in its fast-growing family law team.

Lucy joins from Bristol City Council where she worked as a child protection lawyer for five years. Prior to this she spent a decade working as a criminal defence lawyer specialising in representing youth defendants.

Lucy is also a governor of the Knowle DGE Learning Centre in South Bristol for children with learning and behavioural difficulties. Her arrival comes as Stone King experiences growing demand for the specialist legal services it offers to clients with family difficulties.

Head of the firm’s family law team John Brownrigg said: “We are pleased to welcome Lucy to our growing team, which also includes experienced family mediators and solicitors specialising in divorce, mediation and child care.

“Her expertise in the sensitive area of child protection will be a great asset as we expand the range of legal services we offer to families.”
