New account wins spark record financial results for Bath’s The Agency

Bath-based creative firm The Agency has completed a 12-month period of unprecedented growth, with its latest set of filed accounts showing turnover rose by 30% and gross profit by 36% in the period ending January 2013.

Since then The Agency has continued its rapid expansion with record-breaking first quarter results, and three further account wins, which will be announced in the coming months.

The progress is a continuation of the firm’s financial performance during the previous year. Since its launch in January 2008 by partners Saman Mansourpour and Amy Stobie, The Agency has enjoyed year-on-year growth despite the tough economic climate.

Coinciding with the record financial results, The Agency has promoted planning director Matt Rees to agency partner and appointed Jon Dunbar as client services director. Jon is a former group account director at McCann Erickson and co-founder of West firm The Big Story.

Saman said: “I have known Jon for many years, and we have looked for the opportunity to work together again for a while now. His intrinsic understanding of brands and how to leverage them for commercial success is an essential part of what we do here at The Agency for our clients.

“Jon has the talent to build business relationships that last a lifetime. His focus on providing an uncompromisingly high level of service coupled with his experience of growing and motivating account management teams in a fast-growth environment is well suited to our agency.”

The Agency’s early success included winning the British School of Motoring and Quintiles Pharmaceuticals accounts off larger London-based incumbent agencies.

The growth continued throughout 2009 and 2010, with high-profile account wins such as BT, Del Monte, SlimSticks and Bristol City Council. The Agency ranks 45 in the UK’s Top 100 Agencies* and features in the Drum Magazine’s Design 100. In 2012 it received a commendation for SW Agency of the Year at the Mi Network Awards.

Amy added: “We have worked hard to build a marketing agency fit for the modern world, with people and technology at the heart of what we do. The clients we partner with and the brands we are responsible for are testament to our success as a team. As our clients businesses grow, so do we, so attracting and retaining exceptional people like Matt Rees and Jon Dunbar is the key to our future.”
