The Elegance in the Afternoon Charity Fashion Show raised hundreds of pounds for the charities supported by the chairman of Bath and North East Somerset Council.

Councillor Rob Appleyard hosted the event, which included a champagne reception, afternoon tea, fashion show, raffle and auction, in the Banqueting Room at Bath’s Guildhall for the Forever Friends Cancer Care Appeal, The Carers Centre and Julian House.

Clothes exhibited during the fashion show were provided by a number of local and national fashion labels and retailers including Country Casuals, Long Tall Sally, Coast, Mimi Noor, East, John Anthony, Sisi & May, Lux, jewellery from Bath Aqua Glass and Italian handbags from Ezza Bag Lady.

Music was provided by Amy and Ella from Bath Spa University.

Cllr Appleyard said: “I want to thank all the people who gave freely of their time and resources, from the volunteer models, the hairdressers, makeup artists and volunteer helpers who enabled us to put on a great fashion event with delicious champagne and a sumptuous afternoon tea.

We are obviously delighted that everyone had a great afternoon and that we raised significant money for my three charities.”

He also thanked Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst, Kerrianne Gauld and their MBC Events Team who worked tirelessly with his office on the event.

Hairdressers North, SHQ Hairdressers and The Straight Hair Company gave up their working Saturday afternoon to provide hairdressing for the models and Bath Academy of Media Make up added to the glamour of the models.

Also involved were BBC Points West and former Bath Chronicle reporter Imogen Sellers as compere, Jimmy McDonnell as auctioneer, photographer David Tucker and show choreographer Bev Speakman, of BS Services.

The event was sponsored by Curo Housing, Crest Nicholson, Bath Bus Company and Geometry PR. A presentation of the money to the charities will be made at a civic reception in the next few weeks.
