The corporate finance team at Bishop Fleming, the regional accountancy firm with an office in Bath, has advised an independent records management business on an acquisition that has made it one of the top firms in its sector.

Secure Data Management, based in Kemble, near Cirencester, had already double its number of client records under management in the past five years before buying Kent-based The Chatham Archive & Document Storage Company.

The acquisition will drive further growth of the business, which was founded in 2004.

The Bishop Fleming team, led by Charles Davey and Joe Coghlan, provided full buy-side support, including debt advisory, acquisition advice and financial and tax due diligence.

Secure Data Management managing director Marc Chauveau said: “This is our first transaction of this size involving raising acquisition finance.

“The team at Bishop Fleming have been more than brilliant from start to finish. I could not recommend them more highly.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey”.

Bishop Fleming corporate finance manager Joe Coghlan, pictured, said: “It has been a pleasure working with Marc and Secure Data Management, raising acquisition finance in the post-Covid environment and providing full support to make this key strategic acquisition happen.”

Debt funding for the transaction was provided by ThinCats. London-based law firm Bates Wells acted as legal advisors to Secure Data Management.
