A family lawyer and partner with Bath-headquartered law firm Stone King has been appointed as a deputy district judge on the Western circuit.

Alongside this part-time appointment, Daniela Nickols, pictured, will continue her work specialising in the representation of children both directly and through children’s guardians.

This includes in care proceedings where local authorities have made applications to court, in contact disputes and in proceedings determining where children should live.

Daniela, who is a member of Stone King’s family & mediation team, said: “I am delighted to have been appointed a deputy district judge,” said

“I look forward to taking on this role while continuing in areas of private practice that have been of central importance to me throughout my career.”

Daniela has been a member of the Law Society’s children’s panel since 2011 and sits on Resolution’s children’s committee.

Her academic background includes experience teaching on the undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and the Social Work MSc at the University of Bristol.

Daniela joined Stone King’s Bath office in 2019 when it merged with Bath law firm Mowbray Woodwards, where she had worked for six years, the last three as a partner.

Prior to that she spent six years in the Bath office of Withy King (now RWK Goodman) as a solicitor and associate and was head of its children unit.

Stone King, which also has offices in Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, London and Manchester, specialises in personal, business & social enterprise, charity, education and faith law.

It is top-ranked by independent legal guides Chambers and the Legal 500 and named a top three law firm by The Times.
