A Sunday market on the site of a major town centre regeneration scheme is to return next month – with the owners also hoping to stage a beer festival, car exhibition and summer-long outdoor cinema.

The monthly Innox Market at Innox Mills, a 10-acre brownfield site in Trowbridge, will re-open on April 18, offering a mix of artisan products, street food, local produce and vintage clothing.

When staged last year, including as a Christmas market and with social distancing measures in place, the event regularly drew around 3,000 visitors

It is organised by the site owners – also called Innox Mills – in partnership with The Anonymous Travelling Market, the regional group that brings producers and crafters together to create artisan markets in unusual locations.

The market will be held in the historic buildings at Innox Mills, where visitors will be entertained by live music while they browse the stalls.

As well as the Grade II-listed Innox Mills building, the market will take place in the former dye house, brewery and cloth factory along the riverside, which date back to the 19th century.

Social distancing measures will be in place to protect visitors and stallholders, including a one-way system.

Innox Mills director Jonathan Dean said: “Providing the lockdown restrictions continue to ease as planned, we’re excited to be bringing Innox Market back to Trowbridge.

“Following the success of the Christmas market, where we made use of the buildings which provided a great rustic backdrop, we felt they would also provide an ideal setting for the regular market, which will include a street food courtyard with a seating area when restrictions are permanently lifted.

“We’re currently exploring the potential to host even more events for 2021, including a beer festival in the summer and a return of The Fast and the Foodies, a car exhibition complete with street food. We’re also looking into a summer-long outdoor themed cinema event which will provide a variety of pop-up foods and extra attractions with each theme.”

Plans have been drawn up by Innox Mills to transform the area, which once housed cloth mills and a Bowyer’s pork pie factory, into a mixed-use quarter with food, leisure and retail space and open spaces as well as 300 homes, pictured.

Ideas also being explored include an independent cinema and a co-workspace hub. A planning application is due to submitted to Wiltshire Council in the coming months.

Jonathan added: “We’re keen to create an exciting new quarter here and to encourage people to spend the day in Trowbridge.”

Innox Market will be open from 10am – 4pm on April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, August 15, September 19, October 17 and November 21.
