Bath-based BMT Defence Services has expanded into a second office in the city as it continues to win work in international markets.

The firm, part of the BMT group, works primarily on major naval projects. Its success in securing a prestigious design contract for the Norwegian LSV (Logistics and Support Vessel) project has resulted in it recruiting 40 additional staff – forcing it to find extra workspace.

BMT is working in partnership with South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) on the £141m LSV contract which will provide a support vessel for the Royal Norwegian Navy’s task group.

The new office is in Plymouth House on Monmouth Street, close to BMT Defence Service’s Lower Bristol Road headquarters.

Managing director Muir Macdonald said: “We were fortunate to find suitable design studio space for this exciting project. Our growth in international projects has brought a further 40 people into the company over the last 12 months and I am delighted that we continue to attract the highest quality people to the industry.”
