Bath’s Brindleys Guest House – named by The Times as one of the coolest places to stay in the UK – has been acquired by experienced hoteliers Mark and Pam Cole in a seven-figure deal.

The couple, who bought the six-bedroom boutique guest house in Pulteney Gardens with the help of a six-figure loan through Royal Bank of Scotland, spent two years extensively researching the Bath market to find the right hotel.

They worked with Royal Bank of Scotland relationship director Steven Perrett to assess a number of potential hotel/guest house businesses in and around Bath.

Pam and Mark previously owned the 16-bedroom Bourneville Hotel in Weymouth, which they sold prior to buying Brindleys, an established business with a strong reputation and higher than average occupancy levels.

The couple will run the guest house themselves with two staff members to help with housekeeping. They describe it as “One of Bath's most beautiful, characterful and relaxing boutique B&Bs”.

It is among a growing number of boutique guest houses and hotels in the city targeting the growing market for visitors seeking stylish, often quirky accommodation that is totally different to traditional, corporate hotels.

Mark Cole said: “We have waited patiently to take advantage of the right opportunity. We knew it would come along and Brindleys House has exceeded both of our expectations.

“Its quiet and private position, tasteful décor throughout and future bookings were all contributing factors towards our new ownership.

“We are grateful to Steven at the bank for working with us and lending his years of experience in the hotel sector. He really was instrumental in helping us achieve our long-term ambition of living and working in this beautiful city.”

Steven added: “We are pleased Mark and Pam found a suitable business that more than warranted our financial support. They have secured a thriving business in a city they have longed to live in and we wish them all the very best as they settle into the community and build on this already successful business.”
