First-hand talk on growing a business by Bath internet entrepreneur

Bath-based internet will give advice on growing a business at an event in the city next week. focussing on investment for expansion, raising finance and business planning.

Mr Heath, pictured, will paint a robust picture of how a firm’s accountant should be helping grow the business with a talk focused on business and personal strategic planning, while speaking on the secrets to the success of the companies he has co-founded.

These include market analysis firms Kable Ltd and Ctrl-Shift Ltd and community interest company Mydex, which seeks to help individuals restore control over their own personal data.

He currently chairs of the Open Rights Group, which works for better media awareness and legislation about Internet issues, and is a fellow of the Young Foundation, is restoring a farm in Kelston.

Staged by West accountancy firm Old Mill, BLB Solicitors and HSBC, at The Hilton, on Walcot Street on Thursday, May 2, the event will also hear from Tim Lerwill, director at Old Mill, Frank Scott-Ashe, partner at BLB Solicitors and HSBC’s commercial manager Rob Matson.

Mr Matson will be looking at the essential issue of securing funding to support business growth, explaining how best to ensure you can succeed in gaining funding from the banks and also looking at some of the other funding programmes and government schemes that are currently available.

Mr Scott-Ashe will look at investing for growth from a legal perspective, discussing using debt and shares in a private limited company to raise finance and grow the business. His talk will focus in particular on the legal documentation typically involved, different classes of shares commonly used, shareholders agreements, loan security and personal guarantees.
