The roll-out of ultrafast full fibre networks in the area is continuing with community internet service provider (ISP) Lit Fibre the latest to promise further expansion.

The firm is to launch its ultrafast full fibre network into Warminster early next year, providing the town with a faster, more reliable and affordable broadband service.

Installation of the network is already underway and once live, thousands of homes throughout the town will have access Lit Fibre’s symmetrical 100Mb, 500Mb or 1Gb packages, delivering what it claims will be speeds up to 18 times faster than current broadband services.

The rollout is Reading-based Lit Fibre’s latest in Wiltshire and follows its launch of full fibre broadband services to Chippenham and Melksham.

The firm said expansion into more towns in the county would be announced soon.

Lit Fibre is committed to supplying its services to 500,000 homes across the UK by 2026 and minimising the impact it has on the environment by reducing waste, minimising its carbon footprint and adopting greener alternatives where possible.

The expansion is being funded by growth equity investor Newlight Partners.

Lit Fibre said technology requirements had changed greatly over the past decade, with multiple devices being used at any one time and a growing number of household appliances functioning through wi-fi.

Full fibre provides a superior experience compared to the old, unreliable copper infrastructure, helping to meet the demand for more consistent internet services.

Lit Fibre CEO Tom Williams said: “By installing full fibre networks, we will provide ultrafast, symmetrical broadband services to Warminster, supercharging the community infrastructure and making it affordable so that everyone can access better and more reliable internet.

“We want to be at the heart of the Warminster community by bringing our full fibre internet right to your front door, bypassing the old, unreliable copper infrastructure that’s being used currently.

“Fibre to your front door means a much faster and overall superior internet experience that meets the internet enabled homes of today.”

Lit Fibre is one of the UK’s fastest-growing providers building full-fibre 10Gb capable networks in small towns and communities around the UK.
