Renewable electricity firm Good Energy has signed up as headline sponsor of this year’s Pride in its home town of Chippenham.

The 100% renewable energy provider, which employs more than 250 people at its head office in the town, is sponsoring the main stage hosting the headline acts at the event on 15 June.

Last year’s Chippenham Pride attracted thousands of people to the town’s Island Park to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion.

This year’s event will be even bigger and will expand across the River Avon to include the much larger space of Monkton Park near the Good Energy HQ.

It will also feature a colourful procession through the town centre together as well as 10 hours of main stage entertainment alongside cabaret and education stages, a bar and a wide range of stalls offering food and drinks.

Good Energy, which has been based in the Chippenham area since its launch 24 years ago, said its support for the event reflected its commitment to being an inclusive business and community supporter.

The firm is a member of Inclusive Employers and has been shortlisted for several awards in recognition of its positive culture.

It has its own ‘inclusion champions’, a team of staff from different departments who volunteer their time to promote a welcoming and supportive working environment.

Inclusion champions co-chair Mair Horscroft said: “We are proud to support such an important event in the town’s calendar and hope it will be a tremendous success.

“We’re committed to building a business that attracts and retains talented people from all walks of life and reflects modern society.

“This means valuing people’s differences and recognising the strength that they give us, allowing them to bring their true selves to work.

“We look forward to working with the organisers to celebrate everyone in our community – and encourage other local businesses to lend their support too.”

Chippenham Pride founder and chair Penny MacDivitt added: “It’s great to welcome Good Energy as our first headline sponsor for 2024.

“Last year’s event exceeded all expectations and this year we want it to be even bigger and better.

“There are still plenty of opportunities for local businesses to sponsor different areas of the festival, and we would love to welcome more volunteers and donations.

“Together, we can showcase why Chippenham is such a great place to live, work and visit.”

Good Energy is one of the UK’s largest renewable energy suppliers with more than 200,000 customers,
