Hadrian’s Wall ultra-race charity challenge for Bath financial adviser

An energetic financial adviser from Bath-based Epoch Wealth Management is preparing to run the length of Hadrian’s Wall in just one day to raise vital funds for charity.

Ed Grobler, pictured, will run 69 miles when he competes in a gruelling cross-country race that follows the famous Roman monument from Carlisle to Newcastle.

The keen triathlete will be helping his nine-year-old daughter Annabelle and her classmates at St Mary’s Church of England School in Timsbury raise money for their chosen charity WaterAid, which provides clean water and sanitation to crisis-hit areas around the world.

Although he is used to competing in Iron Man events, The Wall 2016 ultra-run presents a new challenge for Ed, who will have to negotiate many miles of rough Northumberland terrain.

The race on Saturday June 18 is being organised by adventure sports event company Rat Race, which describes it as not for the fainthearted.

Ed will be running The Wall with his brother Johannes, a Bath IT consultant.

Ed said: “Annabelle has been making sure I get out and train for the big day. Her class has pledged to raise £1,000 for WaterAid, so I thought I would help them achieve their target and perhaps raise even more for a very worthwhile cause.”
