Regional law firm Goughs has appointed Dan Shaw as a partner in its nationally accredited housebuilding, land and development team in a move that continues its expansion.

Dan, pictured, has rejoined the firm, which has seven offices across Wiltshire, including in Chippenham, Trowbridge, Melksham and Corsham, having been an associate there for nearly three years until 2019.

He then spent three years and nine months at regional law firm Clarke Willmott’s Bristol office.

He has also worked for Bath-based Stone King and in the Bristol office of Osborne Clarke.

Dan specialises in the housebuilding sector and advises on site acquisitions, disposals, promotions, joint ventures and collaboration agreements.

He has also developed a particular expertise in strategic land deals and has worked with many of the country’s biggest housebuilders, advising on all kinds of development transactions from smaller high value sites to 1,000-plus unit mixed use developments.

Dan said: “I am really looking forward to working in a team where everyone is celebrated individually.

“Strong personal relationships can be hard to maintain whilst delivering a high level of complex work, but Goughs recognise that a motivated and equipped team is only as strong as its members.

“In Goughs’ unique approach to land and development, no project is like another, so a one-size-fits-all, tick-box exercise won’t cut it, and that’s not what we’re here for. We specialise in navigating the specific constraints of each project.”

Goughs partner and head of land and development Andrew Given, pictured, added: “We are really excited to welcome Dan to the team.

“He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the housebuilding sector and he will add true value to the firm’s Land and Development team.

“Our clients usually consider us more like their in-house legal team than external consultants and it is this level of care and professionalism we know Dan will continue to deliver to Goughs’ already very strong client-base.”

Goughs, which was established in 1882, employs 100 people providing legal services for both individuals and businesses including divorce & separation, arrangements for children, employment, Wills, Trusts & Probate, commercial & residential property services and real estate & corporate services.
