A raft of major project wins for blue-chip clients has helped Bath-based workplace design-and-build firm Interaction enjoy its most successful year since it was founded in 1992.

Sales at the firm, which has enjoyed continued steady growth despite the pandemic, rose to £33.5m last year – with profits also increasing to £2.35m.

Growth has been driven by a number of multi-site projects across the UK for leading landlords and co-working space providers, including Royal London, Great Portland Estates and Runway East.

The firm has also completed several high-profile design projects. Among them is the fit-out of international law firm Osborne Clarke’s new flagship Bristol base – a cutting-edge office that features flexible workspaces, indoor gardens and a roof-top restaurant and terrace.

Along with its high-end, bespoke fit-outs, Interaction provides occupier-ready workspace packages to help serviced office providers let their space more quickly and profitably.

Interaction has also increased its headcount over the past year and now employs 55 people, meaning it has outgrown its premises in Bartlett Street. It now plans to move to purpose-designed offices a stone’s throw away in Edgar Mews this autumn.

Interaction managing director Dieter Wood said: “Our growing work with co-working operators has been driven by the pandemic as people adapt to new flexible working practices.

“We now have a really experienced and skilled management team in place to guide the business as we continue to work on complex, multi-site projects nationwide.

“This means we are in a robust position as we enter our new financial year, with a strong foundation for continued future growth.”

Interaction’s key recent projects include a new UK HQ for the global cloud-based finance software provider Xledger and GKN Aerospace’s Global Technology Centre in Filton.
