Specialist investment and fund manager Hawksmoor Investment Management is to open an office in Bath after appointing three members of rival Investec’s former base in the city.

Hawksmoor’s Bath Office will be staffed by senior investment manager Dean Hodgson, business development manager Mike Topham and trainee investment manager Sally Overton.

All three previously worked for Investec Wealth and Investment, which relocated its 22-strong Bath office to Bristol a year ago.

Dean Hodgson is a former professional cricketer who played as an opening batsman for Warwickshire and Gloucestershire before joining what was then Albert E Sharp’s office in Bristol in 1996 as a divisional director.

After several changes of ownership, he left to join Williams de Broe in Bath and later went on to work for Investec in Bath and Bristol.

Mike Topham left Investec recently after 10 years as business development while Sally Overton had been a trainee investment manager at the firm for two-and-a-half years.

Hawksmoor said the Bath office would complement its existing sites in Exeter, London, Taunton, Dorchester and Bury St Edmunds while extending its reach into the West of England.

Hawksmoor CEO Sarah Soar said: “The opening of a new office in Bath is an exciting step in Hawksmoor’s expansion plans.

“We are really looking forward to bringing our award-winning investment and fund management services to direct clients, IFAs and professional introducers in the Bath and Bristol area.

“The high-quality service we are able to offer all of our clients is reliant on the high calibre of our employees, so we are thrilled to welcome our new colleagues who will be helping us with our company vision to be the most inclusive and sustainable wealth manager of choice for clients and staff alike.”

Hawksmoor specialises in managing private client, trust and charity portfolios, as well as three multi-asset funds-of-funds and a series of risk-based ‘model portfolios’ for financial advisers.
