Landlords to get help through the property legal maze at seminar

A free seminar is being staged by estate and lettings agent Andrews to give landlords across the West of England specialist legal guidance.

The event in Keynsham on Monday October 19 is aimed at helping landlords avoid legal pitfalls ranging from evictions to fire safety rules and follows a highly popular series of similar events at other Andrews’ branches.

The hour-long seminar, led by experts from both the legal and property sectors, will cover key topics including: the legal obligations of landlords and their rights when things go wrong; how to handle eviction notices; how to manage rent default and damage – including check-in and check-out procedures – the legal aspects of dealing with problem tenants and demanding tenants; new legislation including details around immigration laws; and will importantly cover off the new fire safety laws that come in to effect this month.

Experts from Andrews’ lettings and management team will be joined by representatives from QualitySolicitors Burroughs Day, a Bristol-based law firm with expertise in providing legal advice to landlords.

Andrews Letting & Management managing director David Westgate, pictured, said: “Our property sessions are equally relevant to seasoned landlords as they are to those considering purchasing a first rental property. Simply, the legal landscape that affects this area of the property market is constantly evolving and every landlord needs to ensure they’re on top of the latest guidance.

“We always base the focus of our seminars on what we know our own landlords want to discuss. This time around, high-profile topics including new fire safety laws and the introduction of ‘right to rent’ immigration checks were highlighted simply because whilst they’re regularly debated topics within the sector, they remain points of misunderstanding for many landlords. This event will give them the opportunity to ask all their, as yet unanswered, queries.”

The seminar takes place at the Keynsham Civic Centre. Doors will open at 6.15pm and the event starts at 6.45pm, finishing by 8pm. Light refreshments will be available. Attendance is by pre-registration only at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/keynsham-introduction-to-law-for-landlords-tickets-18498963899

The seminar will also be streamed live online
