Following praise for the high quality of its work in the influential Legal 500 publication last month, Bath law firm Stone King has been independently recognised in a second national guide.

The respected 2013 Chambers & Partners commends Stone King’s expertise and professionalism across eight practice areas, including family, charity and education law.

The annual directory, which identifies the country’s leading solicitors and law firms through in-depth interviews with clients and industry insiders, also identifies 14 of the firm’s lawyers as experts in their field.

It refers to the “high calibre of practitioner” in the firm’s charity law team who “have a fantastic knowledge and understanding of the sector”. The team, which represents hundreds of voluntary organisations, includes Ann Phillips, who is singled out as “clearly one of the leading practitioners in charity law in the UK”.

The firm’s growing education law team also receives glowing recognition in Chambers. It describes Stone King, which acts for more than 500 schools, as a “heavyweight firm” which has a “strong team” with “very wide expertise”.

Key individuals include charity law specialist Michael King who “provides an excellent service” to his clients and Geoffrey Davies who is recognised by peers as a “significant player in the market”.

On family and matrimonial matters, Chambers says Stone King has a number of accredited mediators and collaborative lawyers, making it well placed to advise clients seeking alternative methods of dispute resolution.

It adds that Stone King has also built up a solid reputation on private client matters. The team advises on a run of concerns such as trusts, wills, estate and tax advice and works with elderly clients in establishing long-term care plans.

Last month the Legal 500 directory ranked Stone King as a first-tier firm with “a deserved reputation as a market leader”.

Stone King managing partner Steven Greenwood said: “We are delighted that our specialist legal services have once again been highly commended in both these important legal industry guides. This is independent recognition of the quality advice we offer to both our private clients and organisations, and reinforces our national reputation in charity and education law.”

The latest accolades came hot on the heels of Stone King’s inclusion in The Lawyer UK 200 Annual Report 2012 , which ranked it among the UK’s leading law firms.
