A new book celebrating the dynamic spirit of makers in Bath today has been launched. Made in Bath shares the stories of 18 modern-day creatives, craftspeople, engineers and innovators working in the city.

The book is the result of a collaboration between Bath brand and design agency Mytton Williams and Midsomer Norton-based Opal Print, who describe it as a snapshot of Bath as it is now – not just a UNESCO-listed heritage site, but a hotbed of ideas and ceaseless energy, with a culture of creativity and craftsmanship.

Mytton Williams creative director Bob Mytton said the makers profiled in Made in Bath share a philosophy of doing things well and take great pride in their work.

As seasoned makers ourselves, we thought the book would make an interesting investigation into the nature of making things, as well as an exploration of how others do it,” he said.

“It is by no means a definitive list of the creative minds in the area, but it’s an overview of the diversity and creativity that’s all around us. It was an absolute pleasure to meet and talk to these talented people who bring joy and genuine passion to their work and their customers.”

Made in Bath was launched last night at the Museum of Bath at Work, where a small-exhibition about the book opens tomorrow and continues during Heritage Week (October27-November 4).

Founded in 1996, Mytton Williams is a multi award-winning brand and design agency working with national and international clients in a broad range of sectors. Opal Print specialises in high-quality litho and digital printing, including for luxury brochures for property and cruise firms.
