Bath-based mechanical electrical and civil engineering contractor Northavon M&E plans to expand and open two regional offices following investment in the business by three newly appointed directors.

Paul Halfpenny, former managing director of Cheltenham-based specialist construction and civil engineering contractor Britannia Construction, this week joined Northavon as CEO.

His arrival coincides with the board appointments of David Matthews of Radstock-based Waterford Environmental, and Mark Matthews of Willpower South West, also based in Radstock.

No details of their investment in Northavon have been disclosed. The firm works with blue-chip clients such as Wessex Water, Thames Water and Rolls-Royce.

Paul Halfpenny said his arrival coincided with an exciting point in the development of Northavon, which is based in the Bath Business Park at Peasedown St John.

“I’m joining a well-managed and highly successful local business, and am looking forward to helping us achieve our plans to be the leading M&E contractor in the South West,” he said.

“Northavon already provide clients with cutting edge service and quality, we will now build on the strengths that have been developed in the business by the current directors.”

Northavon managing director Dave Alder, who acquired the business last October after working there for six years, said: “The team and I are delighted to welcome Paul, Mark and David to Northavon M&E.

“They are going to be a fantastic addition to the business. They each bring a wealth of experience from our sector and their skills and knowledge will help us achieve our growth plans.”

The firm, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, started under the name of Connections Electrical (Wiltshire), and has undergone a number of mergers and ownership changes. It provides a package of M&E contracting services to major clients in the construction and utilities sectors, including designing and installing pumps, treatment systems and control equipment.
