Regional law firm Michelmores’ property awards – regarded as among the most prestigious in the South West – are returning this year after last being staged in 2021.

This year will also mark the 20th anniversary of the contest, which celebrates the best property, development and construction projects in the region and have long-championed sustainability and innovation in the sector.

The 10 categories range from Heritage Project of the Year to Building of the Year, with the judging panel regarding the sustainable, social, environmental and economic values of each entrant as important as their aesthetics and purpose.

Previous winners have included Bath Spa University’s Locksbrook Campus, pictured, which was originally designed in 1976 by renowned British architect Sir Nicholas Grimshaw for US furniture manufacturer Herman Miller. It triumphed in the Heritage Project category.

Applicants are invited to submit projects completed during a longer-than-usual, two-year period – from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022.

This year’s ceremony takes place on 22 June at Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter and will bring together all those who contribute to the region’s property, real estate and construction sector.

Michelmores head of real estate Emma Honey said: “The Michelmores Property Awards are making a welcome return after a short break and I am excited to see who will make the shortlist in our 10 categories.

“It has been 14 months since our last awards ceremony and in that time the property team at Michelmores has continued to work with a large number of inspiring projects and clients.

“It is clear that the South West continues to be a heavyweight when it comes to innovation and ambition and we have seen exceptional projects that lead the way in sustainably in the real estate sector.”

The individuals making up this year’s judging panel will be announced shortly.

The deadline for submission is 17 February and projects can come from anywhere South West.

The 10 categories are:
