Bath law firm Mogers Drewett today staged celebrations for trainee solicitor-turned-Commonwealth Games gold medal winner Eboni Beckford-Chambers as she retured to work just over a week after helping the England netball team gain their incredible last-gasp victory over hosts Australia.

Eboni, pictured, joined Mogers Drewett nearly 18 months ago as a trainee in its dispute and resolution practice and has since excelled in both her legal and sporting career.

She already had a huge amount of experience on the international netball stage with more 80 test caps for England before heading to the Gold Coast games.

But while this was her third Commonwealth Games, nothing will have prepared her, her team mates – or her colleagues at Mogers Drewett – for the stunning 52-51 victory over the defending champions.

It was England’s – and goal defence Eboni’s – first Commonwealth gold at netball and she was given a hero’s welcome by staff as she returned to work today at Moger Drewett’s Queen Square office.

Managing partner Steven Treharne praised Eboni’s ability to balance being an elite athlete with a demanding role in the firm.

He said: “There’s no doubt that Eboni’s schedule is incredibly challenging, but she’s got the stamina, commitment and passion to succeed both at work and on the court.

“We’ve been rooting for the Roses team throughout the Games and couldn’t be more delighted that they have been crowned Commonwealth champions. Huge congratulations to the entire squad.”
