The Bath corporate and commercial team at regional law firm Royds Withy King has signalled further expansion with the appointment of solicitor Ed Chapman.

Ed, pictured, has joined the team – Bath’s largest – from Bristol headquartered national firm TLT, where he worked on a range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, disposals, fund-raising and management buy-outs, acting for individuals and companies with local, national and international requirements.

He also has experience of corporate restructuring, including in distressed situations, working to meet commercial needs and deadlines.

Ed’s appointment further strengthens Royds Withy King’s corporate and commercial team, which continues to expand following this year’s merger of Withy King with single-office City of London firm Royds – a move that has provided greater breadth and depth of services to the firm’s clients based in Bath and across the West.

Royds’ membership of Interleges, a proactive global network of independent lawyers, has also allowed the merged firm to support clients internationally.

Ed said: “This is an exciting time to be joining Royds Withy King, particularly as the firm’s ambitions seem to reflect my own.

“I was looking to join a progressive, growing team with the sector expertise to undertake interesting corporate and commercial work, and Royds Withy King fits the bill on every level.

“During my time at TLT I developed a strong network of contacts in Bristol and I am looking forward to building on these relationships in Bath and the wider area.

“I was also drawn to Royds Withy King’s ethos, putting clients’ interests first and tailoring their approach to suit. Our clients range from ambitious start-ups, owner-managed businesses and SMEs, through to large companies operating internationally and I am impressed by the firm’s ability to offer a personal and hands-on service regardless of size or scale.”

Ed’s appointment follows that of Natalie Pring, who has qualified into the team after completing her training contract with the firm.

Royds Withy King’s corporate and commercial lawyers also have specialist knowledge of a variety of sectors, including banking and financial services, technology media and telecoms, property and construction.

The team’s most recent work has included advising Bath-based Fidelius Financial Holdings on its merger with rival MoneyWise – also based in the city – and the shareholders of Bristol-based cloud specialist Applicable on its sale to Arkadin, a French subsidiary of Japanese-owned NTT Communications Corporation.
