Accountancy firm Bishop Fleming has recruited a new audit manager as it seeks to build on its record-breaking performance last year.

Jennifer Morris, pictured with Bishop Fleming managing partner Andrew Sandiford, joins to strengthen the team as demand for the firm’s audit services increases, most notably in the public sector and education.

Her appointment follows the recent arrival of an additional audit partner and audit director in the public sector and education team, which posted record fee growth of 23% in the 2021-2022 financial year.

With the addition of a base in Cheltenham last year – taking its network of offices to eight across the South West and West Midlands, including Bath – Bishop Fleming is now focussed on ambitious growth targets across.

Having been appointed to the Public Sector Audit Appointments (PSAA) scheme, the firm is seeking to fill a number of roles across its offices to join its growing public sector audit team to deliver a range of audit services to local government, police, fire services, national parks and NHS trusts.

Jennifer, who joined Bishop Fleming after seven years as a senior auditor at Audit Wales, said she was excited by the firm’s vision.

“I am particularly looking forward to working with clients and prospects across the South West.

“Bishop Fleming is a fantastic opportunity for me to be able to offer my skills and knowledge to clients in an exciting and growing market.”

Audit partner Craig Sullivan added: “It gives me immense pleasure to welcome Jennifer to our business.

“Her appointment represents a significant enhancement to our audit services as we look towards an exciting period of growth. Jennifer will be a great asset to our business and will strengthen the specialist services we can offer to our clients.”

Managing partner Andrew Sandiford said Jennifer’s appointment fitted in with the firm’s strategy of growing its audit services to our clients.

“We’re delighted to start the new year like we ended the last one – attracting the very best talent in the market to our business,” he said.

Bishop Fleming achieved a near-20% increase in its total fee income in 2021-2022 to take its turnover to £33.2m.

In addition to its Bath office, the firm also has bases in Truro, Plymouth, Torquay, Exeter, Bristol, Cheltenham and Worcester.
