Alliance Pharma, the international healthcare group, has appointed a key figure in the global consumer healthcare sector as its new chair.

Camillo Pane takes up the post on Monday, replacing Jo LeCouilliard, who has been in the role for five years and who the Chippenham-headquartered firm has accredited with transforming it from a business focused on prescription medicines to a fast-growth consumer healthcare company.

Consumer healthcare revenue at Alliance, which owns a portfolio of products ranging from stomach ulcer treatments to anti-dandruff shampoo, represented 75% of group revenues last year.

Camillo has more than 30 years’ experience in US, European and Asian public, multinational consumer companies.

He held a number of senior positions at Harpic-to-Durex international consumer products group Reckitt Benckiser, where he spent nearly 20 years in global and regional roles, including as senior vice president and global category officer for consumer health.

He then moved to Coty, one of the largest skincare and beauty companies in the world with brands including Rimmel and Max Factor, where as CEO he led the merger with Procter & Gamble Specialty Beauty.

Most recently he was group CEO of Health & Happiness Group, a global health and nutrition company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with revenues of around $2bn.

His appointment came shortly after Alliance, which employs around 285 people across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region, published a trading update for 2023 showing revenues up 6% at £182.7m.

Alliance senior independent director Richard Jones said: “On behalf of the Alliance board and the company I would like to thank Jo for her significant contribution to Alliance over the past five years and wish her well for the future.

“We look forward to Camillo joining as chair and harnessing his wide-ranging consumer healthcare experience to further enhance and develop our group strategy.”

Among Alliance’s top selling brands are scar prevention and treatment Kelo-Cote, eye care product MacuShield, Amberen, a relief for menopause symptoms it acquired in 2020, and Nizoral, an anti-dandruff medical shampoo brand it bought in 2018.
