Future, the Bath-based international media group, has created the new positions of sales director and commercial operations director as it continues its recovery from a tough period of trading.

The firm, best known for its GamesRadar, Edge, MusicRadar, Guitarist, SFX and Total Film titles, has recruited former Clear Channel agency director Kerry Hindhaugh to the sales director role while Paul de la Nougerede joins as commercial operations director from AOL where as senior director, media products and operations, he oversaw the publishing teams for AOL, Huffington Post UK, and Engadget UK.

Kerry, who has also worked for Capital Radio Group/GWR (now Global Radio) and Sky Media, will be responsible for all Future’s client and agency facing teams and delivering commercial solutions to advertisers.

She said: “Future’s new responsive web design lends itself perfectly to delivering effective results to the highly demanding male 25-34 audience as well as allowing clients closer to the purchase cycle. I'm delighted to join in what is an incredibly exciting time of change and growth.”

Paul will be responsible for maximising and developing Future’s commercial operations. Prior to joining AOL in 2012, he held senior digital roles covering commercial strategy, ad products, operations and analytics at Telegraph Media Group and Orange.

He said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity of working with Future’s market-leading products at a very exciting time for the company. Future have a great team and I’m looking forward to working with them to deliver further commercial growth.”

Kerry and Paul will report to Future’s commercial director for advertising Jeff Turner, who said: “People of Kerry and Paul’s calibre increase our capabilities and will help us deliver on our commercial ambitions. Both will bring a new dynamic to our commercial offering and we welcome them both to the team.”

Last November Future revealed a £35.4m annual loss but said its far-reaching transformation of the business, which involved offloading titles, axing staff and shaking up its management team, was “largely complete”.
