Bath specialist media group Future has appointed a new global editor-in-chief at its GamesRadar+ entertainment website.

Daniel Dawkins has been promoted from group editor-in-chief, games UK, replacing Sophia Tong, who moves to a new role at Future working on creative brand strategy and business development within the global revenue team.

GamesRadar+ is a global entertainment website focusing on videogames, movies and TV. It has dedicated editorial teams based in Bath, London, San Francisco and Sydney.

Since its relaunch in November 2014 it has enjoyed exponential growth and last December announced record-breaking figures of 11.3m unique users.

Daniel Dawkins said: “I’m thrilled to be joining GamesRadar+ at this stage in its evolution and can’t wait to work with our record breaking team on exciting plans for 2016 and beyond.

“We’re focused on delivering the sharpest news, features and opinion on the world’s greatest games, TV and films.”

Future content and marketing director Nial Ferguson added: “We are delighted to have Dan as the new global editor-in-chief of GamesRadar+ at what is an extremely exciting time for the brand.

“Dan’s work to date with the UK’s games division has been exceptional, and he was the natural person to continue to drive GamesRadar+ forward.”

He also thanked Sophia Tong for her four years on GamesRadar. “She signs off having seen GamesRadar+ deliver consecutive record-breaking traffic months,” he said.

Future’s other websites include techradar and musicradar while its magazine brands include T3, Total Film, Edge, MacFormat and Xbox: The Official Magazine.
